I made a commitment to lose weight in response to my heart doctor recommending weight loss.
In one year, I have lost (nearly) 50 pounds and am maintaining this weight loss. I feel better plus I am healthier. My high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood glucose readings have all reduced as a result of my weight loss. All of these reductions have resulted in my doctor taking me off tow of the three diabetic medications and reducing my blood pressure and cholesterol medications.
I have learned better self-control, portion control, and how to make healthy choices in regards to the foods I eat. After incorporating these healthier ways of eating plus daily exercise/fitness exercises, I found it got easier over time. I became used to this healthier way of eating which has now become my everyday eating habit which is a “lifestyle” change that has really worked for me.
The Center for Lifestyle Medicine has a great support team (Registered Dietitian, ARNP, and exercise specialist) who guide and support you along the way with lots of good advice, positive encouragement, and information. They helped me regained control of my weight, my health, and the quality of my life. My energy today is great. Thank you, Center for Lifestyle Medicine! I could not have done this without you!
